It's Crazy Windy Outside Right Now

I was trying to think of a clever title for this post when I felt a stronger-than-usual draft at my back. Our house is pretty old and both the front and back doors have about an inch or so of space between the themselves and the floor, allowing all sorts of air, small but not small enough critters, and dust balls to come on in whenever they please. That's why it took me a while to realize that it is freakin' windy out there right now. Like tree branches falling windy. No wonder my dog is just sitting in the middle of the hallway, staring at the door. Well, longer than usual anyway.

Anywho, we didn't get the magical dream land I mentioned in my last post. As of last Saturday, we are back in the property finding saddle, as it were. Not super excited about this, but, what are you gonna do? Had I not gambled away my fortune that one ungodly night in Vegas, this story may have been different, but, I think we can all agree that when Lady Luck grabs ahold of us, we just have to ride it out. Too bad my hearing wasn't so good that night and as I sadly learned too late,  I mistook "Sady Buck" for Lady Luck. Her missing tooth and synthetic ponytail (further proof was the fact that her hair was a home kit shade of yellow-ish and the pony clip-on was more of a...let's say, mixture of rust and dirt) should have been obvious giveaways that giving her all my money would not, in fact, result in winning millions. Ah, well. You win some, you lose some.

Great. A burst of wind just made a noise in the fireplace and now my dog is standing right at it's mouth, barking like a madman. Poor Sam. I'm trying to get him to understand that it's just wind, but screaming at him even louder than he is doesn't seem to be working.

So, we are now safely back at knowing absolutely nothing about our future. Does the grandeur of a trailer park await us? The rustic simplicity of a tiny bit of land with nothing on it, so that we can fully embrace our ancestral roots of eating bugs and mud cakes while lounging on a bed of dead pine needles with the squirrels and field mice as our only companions? Or perhaps our path is an extended-stay Motel 6 with RV parking so we can walk from our room to our kitchen/office/den/closet on wheels within four minutes time.
I mean, seriously, the options are endless.

Hey Mrs. Velin, I am really enjoying this blog! Keep it up! This whole "let's just see what happens" way of thinking has really gotten me to...well...think more. I have had this dream of walking across the US, and I never thought it could really happen. Well, you've kind of gave me the inspiration to try to attack that challenge. I was seeing if it could be done over the summer, however it would take 37 days non stop. Guess that's not going to happen now. However, I didn't just give it up. I researched how long it would take for me to walk from LA to San Francisco. It would only take 6 days nonstop. I think that is doable within a summer. So, I am now starting to kind of plan for it this summer. I haven't told my mom yet, but regardless of what she says I want to do it. The submission is probably not making any sense, and for some reason it is really hard for me to say why I am sending this. I guess I just want to tell you that you have gave me a whole new way of thinking and this way of thinking is taking me on an incredible journey. This blog is all about "let's see what happens" and I absolutely love it. I can't wait to start my adventure to San Francisco. Let's see what happens. :) - Christopher Eifler
