Choose Now. Choose Well...

i was just reading an article in Vanity Fair about the botanical hallucinogen, ayahuasca, found in Peru, when I came across this quote: It's in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. Choose now. Choose well. - Anthony Robbins
I'm not really sure why this quote is attached to an article about a crazy-strong botanical drug that makes you throw up everytime you take it. Is the author saying to choose well and take the drug, or choose well and don't take the drug?
Anywho, vomit-inducing hallucinogen or moving to the country, this is damn good advice and exactly what Jack and I are trying to do. If we never choose, our destiny will shape us. Too many of us succumb to such a fate, and I think this is due to our fear of 1) the unknown, and 2) choosing badly. The thing we fail to realize though, is that by not choosing at all we are choosing badly because we aren't "the captain of our own ship." And the unknown is only terrifying if we make it so; if we decide to view it, instead, as an exciting part of the journey of life, it looses all power over us. And that is a wonderful feeling.

Well I hope you have fun in the countryside. Just remember to settle any disputes or debts before you leave. You might not get another chance to do so.

Personally, why is moving to the country important to you? And what is the origin of this idea?

I love Anthony Robbins. One of my other favorite quotes which kinda goes along here if you think about it is from a RUSH tune. "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice"......

This coming week may present lots of choices.....here's to safe travels, lots of laughs and good choices!

It's really cool, this idea to move out to the country and I look forward to hearing more about your adventures out there. So, about where would this plot of land be? I know you said somewhere in CA, but where? Closer to a city? More isolated (but, of course, not completely)? So, if you are planning on having children, where would they end up going to school? Out in the country there isn't a lot of variet; you can't pick/choose your school like you can here. So, will you end up homeschooling? I was just wondering about that since I've had several problems with schools (this one is my 7th school)and it's nice to have variety in which to move around, or to be homeschooled where you can create your variety. Just wondering :D

What do you expect to get out of this? Is this a very scary thing or more exciting?

Have you thought of how your going to support yourself? assuming you have the land and you know what your doing, you could breed animals for major meat industries or different animals for entertainment and hobby (like Horses, puppies, etc.). I can't really think of much else you can do without extreme experence but im sure you will figure it out. lol goodluck :) :) :)

I think the fact you're moving to the countryside is really cool. There's something so humbling about being with nature & being able to actually see the stars at night. I can totally appreciate where you're coming from with this idea. I love you Mrs. Velin & I'm glad I got you your last year teaching at OCHSA :)

While you're living in the country, are you going to grow a garden? And what will you grow in that garden? Something practical like vegetables and fruits or perhaps tea (that's always been my dream !)? Or will you plant something beautiful like a variety of flowers?

Wow! I really admire how brave and excited you are to expose yourself to something new and unknown. It's also amazing how you put what you believe into action. But how long do you plan on staying here? Do you think it will start to become more familiar and feel like home?Or will it eventually get old and boring?

Taylor and Allison,
I will respond to both of your excellent questions when I have a good amount of time to write. :) Good questions, both!
